Day 1:
The beautiful landscapes of Southwestern Ontario will make this road trip fun for
everyone. While in London, explore historical attractions such as Banting House National
Historic Site and Fanshawe Pioneer Village. For the archaeologist in the group, don’t
miss out on University of Western Ontario’s Museum of Archaeology. Adults will love to
spend some free time at Slots at Western Fair Raceway for a night of entertainment. Stay
overnight in London at one of many restful hotels.
Day 2:
Day two will be one of excitement and adventure, so awake early to ensure you enjoy it
to the fullest! Before you leave pack a picnic lunch; pack into the car and head out on the
open road toward beautiful Kingsville, Ontario and start your tour at the Canadian
Transportation of Museum and Historic Village. Drive to Colio Estate Wines and take in
a leisurely wine tour. Break with a picnic lunch (that you packed) at the winery’s on-site
Carlo Negri Pavilion. After a late lunch pile into the car and drive to Amherstburg for
more wine touring and tasting at D’Angelo Estate Winery Inc. and/or the Shores of Erie
International Wine Festival (check dates in September). Be sure to stop in at the Town of
Amherstburg information centre to pick up a brochure to learn about the fun and
interesting places to explore while in Amherstburg. As night nears, head toward Windsor
and take in a nice dinner and show at Caesars’s Windsor; before the night’s out check out
the casino for a night of gaming. Crawl into bed after an eventful day at one of many
cosy hotels in town.
Day 3:
Don’t sleep in too late this morning, as you’ll want to be up in time to take in the
beautiful scenery at the Ambassador Golf Club as you sneak in a 9-hole round of golf in
the early morning air. After a rejuvenating morning of fresh air and sporting, stop in at
one of the local eateries for a nice warm breakfast and ready yourself for another day of
site seeing. Pack into your car and stop in at Carrousel of the Nations (check dates in
June) to begin your world tour without ever leaving town. Before your driving adventure
continues, stop in at the Walkerville Brewing Co. for a quick tour. That afternoon drive to
Oil Springs for some history; visit the Oil Museum of Canada, Uncle Tom’s Cabin and/or
the Moore Museum. From Oil Springs, take a short drive to Arkona to spend your
evening at Rock Glen Family Resort for a relaxing night of fun and entertainment.
Day 4:
Awake from an enjoyable sleep in Arkona to embark on a new day of exploration and
pleasure. Head out toward St. Mary’s for a tour of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.
After learning about Canada’s baseball history drive toward Stratford, Ontario for a beer
taste tour at the Stratford Brewing Company. Be sure to take in a play at the renowned
Stratford Shakespeare Festival (book in advance to ensure your spot in the theatre!). After
the show drive around this quaint town; stop in at a local eatery for dinner. After dinner,
drive toward Woodstock for an evening of gaming and entertainment at Slots of
Woodstock Raceway; from here you are less than one hour away from London, so take
the time to enjoy yourself and relax for the night.
